Turkish encroachment: Syria running the risk of becoming a Turkish vilayet.

Few days ago, Syria's Transitional Government commemorated the 103rd anniversary of the Turkish republic, a first in the history of Syria.

This comes amid unprecedented, and rather alarming, warming of relations between the two countries. The relations between Syria and Turkey were always frigid or tending to be leaning towards passive hostility since the Syrian republic was formed in the aftermath of WWI when the Levant shook off the Turkish Ottoman yoke after centuries long brutal rule that saw the Ottoman forces committing unspeakable atrocities, demographic change and genocides against the native peoples.

This change came after the fall of the Assad regime, with Turkish influence immediately felt in Syria with HTS assuming power. STG expressed their gratitude to Turkey's support during the civil war, as Turkey supported many terrorist groups in Syria during its struggle with the former SAA, HTS included, and it continues to signal political subservience towards Turkey, with reportedly Turkish officials dictating Syrian policy, especially Turkey's MoF Hakan Fidan and head of intel Kalin.

Also in Damascus, a Turkish private school opened this September with Syrian officials taking part in the opening the ceremony. The school is named after the incumbent Turkish president Erdogan which is considered provocative for many Syrian minorities, especially the Kurds, who see Erdogan responsible for the atrocities and demographic change committed by the Turkish army in Northern Syria, when it launched an operation against Kurdish factions in Northern Aleppo and famously forcing the Kurdish population into leaving their lands and replacing them with Turkmen ans Arab settlers, the consequences of which are still felt today with clashes taking place last week when a convoy of displaced Kurds tried to move back into their homes in Afrin region.

Turkey's influence on Syria also can be seen in the new army, how it's being built with Turkish arms and systems and covert Turkish command, as Turkey seeks to turn Syria into its first line of defence against Israel and its spearhead in expansion further in the region, which could put Syria in danger of becoming an open battlefield for regional powers once again with ordinary Syrians paying the price with their lives.

PJAK Spokesperson Rivar Abdanan: Iran, as the strategic crossroads of the Middle East, has been placed on an irreversible path. Until a new political-economic order takes shape in the region and its security network is established, any expectation of the war and crisis subsiding will be in vain. The freedom-seeking people of Iran are compelled, despite all the suppressions, to ultimately impose their will on the course of transformations in various ways. Merely transitioning from the Islamic Republic is not enough; the mode of governance and the manner of the society's political agency must also be transformed. The future democratic Iran can be neither centralized nor fragmented. The right to political self-determination of all nations and identities residing in Iran will be realized in a federal or self-governing form through democratic integration (connectivity), within a pluralistic and decentralized system. Regional and domestic developments have gradually turned this option into an obligatory approach.

Political actors who turn a blind eye to these geopolitical realities and operate with the logic of a century ago not only expose their own societies to dire risks but will themselves meet no fate beyond playing a transient proxy role followed by a cautionary decline.

🚨ATTENTION

Humam Hamoudi, head of Iraq’s Supreme Islamic Council, claimed Turkish & Iranian opposition forces in Iraq will end this year.

Reality: Turkey keeps 136+ bases; Iran-linked forces remain present. Also, Zêlkan-Bashiqa Municipality Administrator Mihemed Emîn:

"So far, no signs of a withdrawal by Turkey have been observed on the ground. Furthermore, the presence of Turkish soldiers poses a threat to the local population."
