🇺🇦🇺🇸🇷🇺⚡️ — Zelensky told Bloomberg that US President Trump is pressuring Kiev to capitulate to Russia, adding that he believes recent US actions are aimed at forcing Ukraine to make concessions.

“I believe steps have been taken to persuade Ukraine to capitulate,” Zelensky said, adding that he fears Washington is seeking to end the war earlier “at Ukraine’s expense.”

Zelensky also proposed stopping Ukrainian strikes on Russian infrastructure that produces diesel fuel and on oil refineries in exchange for additional Patriot air defense missile systems, after Trump called for an end to these attacks amid rising diesel prices.

“My latest model is this: we do not strike Russian diesel production, and you provide us with missiles for the Patriot systems to protect our facilities,” he said.

However, according to Zelensky, Washington wants Ukraine to halt the strikes without offering anything in return, and he warned that if the attacks continue, the US may “cut us off from something” ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.

🇺🇸⚡️ — General Ronald Clark, the commander of the US Army in the Pacific, is seeking to showcase more advanced capabilities of the American armed forces in the Indo-Pacific region in order to strengthen deterrence against China and prevent war, the FT reports.

Clark said that the US must demonstrate a sufficient level of military power and readiness to “make the adversary think,” including by deploying Typhon missile systems capable of launching Tomahawk cruise missiles and SM-6 missiles, as well as HIMARS rocket artillery.

Despite concerns about the Trump administration’s commitments in the region and China’s opposition to the deployment of American missiles, Clark said that military cooperation with allies continues to expand thanks to Operation Pathways exercises, which are conducted partly during periods of heightened risk. “Being the security partner of choice is key,” he said.

The US is also resuming military exercises with Cambodia in February after nearly a decade-long pause, while simultaneously expanding its presence in the Pacific through additional divisions, a corps headquarters, and specialized units focused on intelligence, cyber, electronic warfare, and psychological operations.
