The Islamic Group condemns the infiltration of Israeli occupation forces into the town of Habbarieh at night and the kidnapping of its official in the Hasbaya-Marjeyoun region
The Islamic Group condemned the Israeli occupation forces' infiltration under cover of darkness at midnight between Sunday and Monday into the town of Habbarieh, in the Hasbaya district, and their kidnapping of the group's official in the Hasbaya and Marjeyoun region, Atwi Atwi, from his home. He was taken to an unknown location after his family was terrorized and assaulted. The group held the occupation forces responsible for any harm that befalls him. It also emphasized that this act is yet another in a series of daily violations and barbaric attacks on sovereignty perpetrated by the occupation forces. The group asked whether this act of piracy was a response to the Prime Minister's visit to the South and to the towns of the Hasbaya district, and to the region's residents' reaffirmation of their commitment to the state. The group further indicated that this act of piracy is part of a campaign to terrorize the region's inhabitants and force them to abandon their villages and land
The group called on the Lebanese state to pressure the sponsoring parties to halt hostilities, to work towards the release of Brother Atwi Atwi and all prisoners, and to stop all Israeli violations of Lebanese territory and sovereignty. It also called on the state to defend the residents and civilians safe in their villages and towns.
