It doesn't seem too surprising at first glance that the US, the prime supplier of Riyadh's military, is supplying them with some nice jets
But 2 things about the deal: 1.) The only possessor of F-35 jets in the region is Israel
2.) Saudi Arabia has been growing closer in its defense and security ties with China — leading to concerns voiced by the Pentagon over the sale of the jets and their potential for the tech to land in Beijing's hands
We could either see a breakthrough in US/Israel — Saudi relations or a backfiring...
Trump is selling the F-35s to Saudi Arabia in a bid to nudge MbS towards the Abraham Accords — though even if the Crowd Prince agrees to the deal, will Israel tolerate a well equipped Arab army?
