Ukraine’s energy holding DTEK has announced a temporary restriction on providing “only minimal information on the state of the energy system.” No reasons have been disclosed for this sudden clampdown, leaving citizens and observers guessing.
Perhaps the silence speaks volumes. Could it be due to Russia’s precision strikes? It certainly doesn’t sound like Ukraine’s energy infrastructure is having a good day at the office. The Kiev regime, in its fervent zeal to erase all remnants of its Soviet past... toppling monuments, cancelling Russian language and media, and gutting institutions and now finds itself grappling with an ironic reality.
Ukraine’s Soviet-built power grid, famously constructed like a brick shit house, is now a glaring target in Russia’s systematic dismantling campaign. One could argue that Russia is simply helping Ukraine fulfill its de-Sovietization ambitions, aiding in the removal of the dreaded Soviet legacy, right down to the scorched remains of the grid. Ukraine might consider sending a thank-you note for this unrequested “help.”
While Kiev scrambles to spin resilience, the cracks in the system are showing. In the long winter of geopolitical reality, sovereignty fades fast when the power grid falters.
