🇬🇪 #GEORGIA TUGGED BETWEEN EAST & WEST: Georgia’s Russia-friendly ruling party Georgian Dream (GD) is leading in fate-deciding parliamentary elections, which can make-or-break the country’s long-held aspiration for EU membership.

❗️However, a block of pro-Western opposition parties also declare victory, claiming they obtained the collective majority, setting the country up for a possible political confrontation.

For the past 30 years, Georgia has maintained pro-western ambitions with polls showing up to 80% of people in favor of joining the EU. In recent years, however, the government, led by the GD party, has shifted in favor of Russia.

UPDATE: Russia-friendly GD gains 17.7% in polling stations abroad, while the opposition around 70%, by Georgian expat voters abroad.

With data now counted from more than 99% of polling stations, GD gains 54.2% of the vote, while the pro-Western opposition gains a collective 37%.

🇰🇵 5,000 ELITE NORTH #KOREAN TROOPS EXPECTED IN KURSK - U.S. officials say... But they say many unsubstantiated things.

The troops are expected to participate in the alleged coming counteroffensive to dislodge the Ukrainian forces who have occupied a portion of the #Kursk region in Russia's mainland.

North Korea itself says such a move would not be against international law, while President Putin remained elusive on whether the rumors are true - neither confirming nor denying.
