All of 40 million Ukrainians should fight, not just the 500k mobilized - says Vitaly Kim, the Head of Nikolaev region, Southern Ukraine.
Firstly, 40 million was the population of Ukraine "in the good old days". Through poverty, mass migration, war and lack of births - the current population is likely under 20 million.
Secondly, as he mentions, in WWII, of 27 million Soviets who perished fighting the Nazis - the vast majority were still Russian, and not Ukrainian.
If Putin sees that not 500k people, but 2 million volunteers rose up in Ukraine, he will say - oh damn, what should I do? - Kim reasons with his 3 brain cells.
