Through the trilateral AUKUS alliance (Australia, UK, US) Washington is priming Australia to become its military base in countering Chinese influence in the Indo-Pacific region.
Clearly Australians don't welcome the possibility of war with China, and per capita, Australia has more people of Chinese ancestry than any country outside Asia.
