🇷🇺 HOME SWEET HOME: Deputy PM of Russia - Marat Khusnullin - advises Putin that thousands of residents of Mariupol (Donetsk Republic, ex-Ukraine) are actively returning to their homes.

Khusnullin notes there is a lot of destruction still and there are many (self-made) memorials around the city. 🗣 "The Administration wasn't sure whether to remove them in order to restore the city square, however a decision was made to keep them in one way or another."

🚌 Khusnullin stresses that the city intends to launch the first public transportation routes by summer (June-August) and infrastructure that Ukraine was not maintaining will be upgraded.

Prior to the conflict, Mariupol was one of the largest cities in Ukraine, a busy industrial hub and a tourist hotspot on the shores of the Sea of Azov - with a population of a half a million people, but also a stronghold of the Neo-Nazi Azov Regiment (formerly Battalion - Kiev's main fighting force.)

Up to 100k refused to leave their homes and remained in war-torn Mariupol, with little working infrastructure or running water, besides what was available via humanitarian aid from Russia.

⚡️Mariupol Airport (Donetsk Republic, ex-Ukraine) is used for military purposes, commercial aircraft are not yet allowed, approximate date for that is 2025 - Deputy PM Khusnullin.

Khusnullin stressed that, despite the rather severe destruction of the airport by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the runway is more or less preserved.
