Aung San Suu Kyi further sentenced for purchasing a helicopter during her time as leader, at the expense of the state. In total, she will serve 33 years, following a series of convictions since the military toppled her government in 2021.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner lost many of her international supporters when she allegedly oversaw a brutal crackdown on the country's Rohingya minority in 2017.

⚡️Putin toughens law on liability for foreign agents

More than two violations per year (for example, not displaying a "foreign agent" badge if a publication is being funded from abroad), one can face up to two years in prison.

This comes on the back of Zelensky banning any positive coverage about Russia in Ukraine.

Russia ceased to be a member of CE in March 2022, following the beginning of the Special Operation.

Former President Yeltsin joined in 1996; Russia ratified 60 Conventions with the CE - including removing most of Soviet/Russian troops from Moldovan base (several hundred remain in breakaway/unrecognized part Transnistria.)
