Linus Torvalds, the creator of Linux, developed Git in just two weeks!😁😁

Back in 2005, the Linux kernel team needed a better version control system after losing access to BitKeeper. Linus, known for his efficiency, built Git from scratch in only 10 days—and it became one of the most powerful and widely used version control systems in the world!

Eid al-Adha Mubarak from Inspire Tech Hub! Wishing you joy, peace, and endless blessings today and always.

“I walked over 40 minutes in the rain, hobbling with pain, to see a room that didn’t even exist.” 😭
That was my first day in Addis Ababa ለመኖር ጉዞ የጀመርኩት.
I had left my hometown hoping to start a new chapter, but I didn’t know where I would live. I searched online for Ethiopian rental platforms, but none were reliable.
Like many others, I turned to Facebook and Telegram groups and called brokers ደላሎች. One was from Semit, another from Arabsa, Koye, Saris....... Each gave different information, and nothing felt trustworthy. Their prices were not affordable for me, and the rooms they offered didn’t match what I was looking for.
At the same time, my knees and calves were throbbing with pain due to a chronic condition. Even standing was difficult, but I knew I had to move. A family member and I traveled on a rainy day. I hugged my PC bag tightly, the rain soaking my jacket, and limped through Qality Bus Station (ቃሊቲ መናኸሪያ). With no relatives or friends to stay with, our only option was to find a room immediately.
We took a taxi to Bole Arabsa (ቤት ክራይ እርካሽ ነው ሲሉ ስለሰማን ደግሞ እርቀቱ 🙈 ), a completely unfamiliar area. The streets were busy, wet, and chaotic. The neighborhood was full of hashtag#condominiums, unfamiliar and intimidating.
A man selling Safari SIM cards, who also worked part-time as a broker, approached us. Soon, a few shoe shiners joined him, claiming they knew landlords. One of them said a single room was available, but the owner demanded three months’ rent upfront.
After negotiation, they promised to reduce it to one month if we paid for each brokers commission first. Hoping for the best, we agreed to visit the room.
We walked over 40 minutes. My legs shook, my body trembling, my bag weighing me down. The broker kept repeating, “We’re almost there.” "ቅርብ ነው ደርሰናል፤ ያው እዛች ጋር..😁"
When we arrived, I was shocked.
The “room” was an old, broken wooden structure with a soil floor. The yard was full of cows, and the smell was unbearable ላሚቷ ደሞ ቀንዷ ሲያስፈራ 😁 . The description had been completely false. Exhausted and frustrated, we refused the offer and walked all the way back. That journey worsened my condition, leaving me sick for months.
During that difficult period, I realized how challenging it was for students and workers in Ethiopia to find verified, affordable rooms. Most platforms were unreliable or catered only to luxury listings.
That struggle sparked an idea — a platform built to solve this problem. That idea became Betegna - ቤተኛ, a product of INSPIRE TECH HUB (ITH), designed to make housing simple, safe, and transparent.

Sometimes the hardest struggles become the strongest motivations to build something meaningful.
Have you ever faced a situation where a simple task felt impossible? How did you turn frustration into action? I’d love to hear your story. ❤️
