🇺🇸🇩🇪 Will the sabotage on the Nord Stream pipeline system trigger anti-American discontent in Germany?

— One must speculate the seismic consequences the recent gas leaks will potentially have on various anti-sanctions movements in Europe, particularly in the German-speaking world. In Germany, there have been demonstrations taking place across towns and cities every single week, supporting the opening of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines. In the state of Saxony alone, there were over 150 protests held this Monday.

But how can such protesters advocate for a political solution to the soaring energy costs that is no longer possible under current circumstances, and won't be for a long time? Unless of course, the direction of the pro-Nord Stream protests morphs into general anti-American discontent and anger, especially given that most accounts on German social media are claiming — whether rightly or wrongly — the gas leaks were American terrorist attacks on German critical energy supply lines. Has America, if it did indeed perpetrate sabotage attacks on the Nord Stream pipeline system, awoken a beast in Central Europe that is (quite possibly) of its own making?

On October 8, a massive demonstration planned months in advance by the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), a right-wing nationalist party with an influential pro-Russian faction, is being held in the center of Berlin. Could the rally, held in the former GDR, be the start of a wider anti-American movement in continental Europe, especially Germany? Will we see American flags being burnt on the steps of the Reichstag on the 8th? Calls for the end of American colonisation of the continent?

The organisation behind the protest calls for the exit of the Czech Republic from the EU and NATO, and an end to hostility towards Russia.
