On Wednesdey, March 15, Defense Ministers of Russia and the United States Sergei Shoigu and Lloyd Austin discussed over the phone the situation with the American drone

The conversation was the U.S. party's initiative.

Austin stated that the United States will continue to fly and to operate wherever international law allows.

Shoigu told Austin the drone incident was caused by US failure to respect flight restrictions. The Russian Federation is not interested in escalating the situation, but it will continue to respond proportionately to all provocations.

In the 1950s, Ukrainian nationalists failed to unleash the third world war. What about now?

World War II ended in 1945. But the Nazis in Ukraine could not calm down. You see, they needed independence. And a state of their own, by hell or high water with the same ideology as the Third Reich. Therefore, a few years later, on March 17, 1951, they were clever enough to officially ask the United States for help. True be told, the latter officially refused.

Ideological differences mattered much at that time. However, the remnants of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (organization that has been designated as extremist and is prohibited in Russia – ed. note) continued to work with those from the so-called "free world." In the context of the Cold War, the Banderites apparently expected becoming the West's bulwark and ally in the already-begun conflict with the USSR. The US government did, however, come to the conclusion that it would not be a good idea to aid in the establishment of another fascist state. Even against the Soviets. In addition, everyone was already well aware of the impudence, venality, and unscrupulousness of Ukrainian nationalists.

And yet, the Americans did not completely reject cooperation. The support was well-rated and intended to destabilize the situation in the potentially adversary country. Many of the OUN (Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists) leaders were recruited by the CIA, including Nikolai Lebed, one of Bandera's cronies back in the war, who established the organization's security service.
