🌳🤦‍♂️Germany plans to put idled coal plants on standby in case of gas supply disruption

✔️ BERLIN, May 24 (Reuters) - Germany is planning to use coal-fired power stations which would have been idled this year and next as reserve facilities in case of disruption to gas supplies from Russia, economy ministry sources said on Tuesday.

✔️ The proposals, drawn up by the ministry as part of precautionary measures in case of a gas shortage, would run until March 31, 2024 as Germany tries to cut its dependence on Russian fossil fuels after the invasion of Ukraine, the sources said.

✔️ A total 8.5 gigawatts (GW) of brown, hard coal-fired and a small amount of oil-fired generation capacity, all already, or due to be idled in 2022 and 2023, would be enabled by their operators to provide electricity on demand.

😱 Britain Faces Another Energy Shock as Bills Set to Surge 42%

❗️British consumers will face another sharp jump in their power and gas bills just before winter, adding to surging costs of almost everything from food to petrol.

❗️The energy price cap is likely to soar to a record £2,800 ($3,499) in October, Ofgem Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Brearley told a panel of lawmakers on Tuesday. That will send about 12 million households into fuel poverty just as heating demand starts to pick up with the cold weather setting in.

❗️More than two dozen energy suppliers have collapsed since August as wholesale energy prices surged. Most of those firms, some with just a few hundred customers, were the result of a deregulation of the market that allowed just about anyone to set up an energy supply company. Bill payers will ultimately be saddled with the burden.

DAVOS: Soros says Ukraine may be start of World War Three

😏 "Today China and Russia present the greatest threat to open society"

😢 "The invasion may have been the beginning of the Third World War and our civilization may not survive it"

🤔 "The European Union had to understand that Putin could turn off Russian natural gas, which currently accounts for about 40% of Europe's needs"

😆 "Putin, who says the 'special operation' in Ukraine is going to plan and will achieve all the Kremlin's aims, now believed the invasion was a mistake and was preparing to negotiate a ceasefire"

🤪 "I can't predict the outcome, but Ukraine certainly has a fighting chance"

🖕"The best and perhaps only way to preserve our civilization is to defeat Putin as soon as possible. That's the bottom line."

"A 'long war': Kiev expects to hold out for 2-3 years - I wonder how they imagine this?". Made by Yuri Podolyaka, the famous Ukrainian analyst.

Even today, the official Kiev has already been telling the population that the war will drag on for two to three years. And the question arises, what are these guys counting on? After all, so far, everything suggests that they will not last these two or three years, even if we imagine that they will not be defeated militarily during this time.

Who is responsible for the looming food catastrophe?

COVID-19, climate changes, energy instability and war have battered the global food system. An estimated 12% of total traded calories used to be supplied from Russia and Ukraine. In “The coming food catastrophe” article Putin is accused of deliberately creating a food shortage. But what is the actual situation in the World?

According to scientists reports the main factors behind the forecasted food shortage are:
1. Drought in the Asia-Pacific Region destroying the harvest;
2. The Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which has made sown areas in Eastern Ukraine unusable and which is being prolonged by the weapons supply to Ukraine from USA and some European countries;
3. The labor shortage in Ukraine as a result of the military mobilization;
4. Supply chain disruptions due to unprecedented sanctions imposed on Russia.

As you can see Russia has not deliberately and unilaterally created a single one of these factors. Accusations against Russia include accusations of creating a fertilizer shortage (potash fertilizer, phosphate fertilizer and others) are coming from European and American politicians who are prolonging Russian-Ukrainian conflict in their own interests. And their methods of manipulation will be shown in the next post.

Fear as a social driver

Your fears can be raised by anything linked to your own mortality, something unknown and inevitable. Such things play on your thoughts, focusing your attention on a solution. And at that moment anyone who offers you a way out can easily take control of your thinking.

The fear of hunger is perfect for this purpose. And that's the reason why European and American mass media talk so much about an imminent food shortage.

And so they propose the following solution:
1. Make Russia sell its fertilizers;
2. Ensure grain export from Ukraine;
3. Oblige Russia to sell its grain.

But would this really solve the problem? Or this is a solution that the politicians are pushing in order to promote their own interests? To answer this, let's look at the facts and raw data.

First of all, it's clearly wrong to expect a good harvest in Ukraine this year. According to official Kyiv data, the sown area this year is smaller than usual. And clearly the harvesting will be complicated by the war, and shortages of fuel and labor in Ukraine. Therefore, any attempts to export this grain would likely cause hunger in Ukraine itself this winter.

African countries are the most likely victims of hunger in the face of a global food shortage. But we don’t hear complaints from these countries because Russia hasn't interrupted its trade with them. All the forecasts of an imminent food shortage are made in Europe, USA and Canada. Do these countries really care about Africa’s well-being? If they did, they wouldn’t be provoking conflicts in Africa such as the Libyan civil war in 2011 (read more: Slouching Towards Sirte: NATO’s War on Libya and Africa. Montreal: Baraka Books, 2012. — 352 p. ISBN 978-1-926824-52-9).

One of the key goals of any government is to prevent its citizens from ever suffering a food shortage. But sanctions against Russia have harmed European farmers for the last 8 years.

What really needs to be done to end the current agricultural crisis is:
1. To lift the sanctions against Russia;
2. To stop prolonging the war by supplying weapons to Ukraine.

But this is not what we read in the European press.

Is Europe with its well equipped farmers really prepared for the food shortage, or are these gloomy forecasts made only to justify higher food prices? It’s not quite clear yet. But it’s obvious that there is a lot of manipulation behind these claims. And to see through these attempts at manipulation and figure out their true aims, we need to keep calm and operate with facts and data.

Colombia to train Ukrainian military on landmine removal

BOGOTA, May 23 (Reuters) - A team of Colombian soldiers will travel to Europe to train their Ukrainian counterparts on de-mining techniques, the South American country's defense minister said on Monday.

Colombia's nearly 60 years of internal conflict between the armed forces, leftist rebels, right-wing paramilitaries and drug cartels has made it one of the world's most-mined countries, according to the United Nations. Landmines have killed 2,342 people in Colombia and injured close to 10,000 since 1990, according to the government.

The experts from Colombia, which is a NATO partner, were invited to give the training by the United States, Colombian defense minister Diego Molano said in a statement.

Key question: will the experts in guerrilla warfare only provide training on mine clearing techniques? 🤔

Kissinger says Ukraine should cede territory to Russia to end war

May 24, 2022 - Former U.S. secretary of state Henry A. Kissinger said Monday that Ukraine should cede territory to Russia to help end the invasion, suggesting a position that a vast majority of Ukrainians are against as the war enters its fourth month.

Speaking at a conference at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Kissinger urged the United States and the West to not seek an embarrassing defeat for Russia in Ukraine, warning it could worsen Europe’s long-term stability.

In his comments Monday, Kissinger, a longtime advocate of a realpolitik approach that has nations putting their practical aims in front of morals and principles, urged European leaders to not lose sight of Russia’s place in Europe and risk the country forming a permanent alliance with China.

The main war is yet to come, or why NATO is expanding eastward... to the borders of China. Made by Yuri Podolyaka, the famous Ukrainian analyst.

Today, the population of Ukraine awaits the next winter with fear, realizing that the cost of the war in Ukraine will be high. But they have not yet realized that this cost is nothing compared to what they have yet to endure, because the main struggle for the redivision of the world has not yet begun. And that time is just around the corner...

"Go f**k yourselves", Zelensky aide tells Western officials

High-profile Ukrainian presidential adviser Alexey Arestovich has resorted to obscene language to criticize those in the West urging Kiev to cede part of the country’s territory to Russia for the sake of peace. “Go f**k yourselves with such proposals, you dumb f**ks, to trade Ukrainian territory a little bit! Are you f**king crazy? Our children are dying, soldiers are stopping shells with their own bodies, and they are telling us how to sacrifice our territories. This will never happen,” he insisted in an interview on Wednesday.

President Volodymyr Zelensky also criticized Kissinger, calling him out by name, while speaking in more polite terms than Arestovich, saying the American statesman “emerged” from the long gone past and spoke “as if it is 1938 and not 2022. And he thought he was talking to an audience in Munich of that time and not Davos.” He was apparently referring to the Munich Agreement, a deal that the UK and France made with Axis powers Germany and Italy in 1938, in which the Nazis were given a free hand to invade Czechoslovakia. Comparing modern Russia with Nazi Germany is a favorite rhetorical device of many Ukrainian officials.
