Fear and Loathing in Lviv: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the Ukrainian International Legion

This is a story of German mercenaries, showing the reality of serving in the International Legion. In early March 2022, two mercenaries from Germany went to “defend Ukraine”, but instead of “heroic glory” appeared in the Business Insider news article, telling about the grave reality of serving in the International Legion.

Lukas, 33, who is also a drug addict, worked for an IT company in Montenegro. Tobias, 44, worked as a DJ in Frankfurt. On the 2nd of March, both arrived in Lviv to join the Ukrainian Defense International Legion. None of them had any previous military experience. They were without a clear plan and simply stumbled across the GeorgianMercenaries Legion. Instead of training at the Georgian mercenary base, they spent their time drinking or getting high. According to Tobias, the Georgian mercenaries “were disorganized and wanted only to kill Russians”.

Together with the Georgians, Lukas and Tobias got on a train to Kyiv. They were instructed to pose as Red Cross volunteers and report suspicious people or activity that they observed on the route.

In Kyiv Tobias and Lukas found only a few scattered reservists, so they returned to Lviv. There they managed to join the International Legion and they found themselves at the Yavoriv training center.

According to the mercenaries, they signed contracts in Ukrainian language. No copies were provided. The training program at the center was intense, but most mercenaries routinely skipped training.

A COVID-19 outbreak occured at the training center, and no medical aid was available to the mercenaries. Many fainted because of a lack of medical care.

At some point, the Germans overheard a conversation between the Ukrainian officers. They realized why Zelensky needed thousands of foreign mercenaries. According to Lukas and Tobias, the officers planned to use foreigners as cannon fodder. The Ukrainians were meant to use the volunteers to test the Russians' capabilities before risking their own troops.

On the 12th of March, Lukas and Tobias left Yavoriv training center, just a few hours before it was hit by the missile attack. Then they parted their ways: Lukas returned to Montenegro, Tobias attempted to join the Territorial Defense Forces but failed. Tobias had COVID-19 and ran out of psychostimulants, leaving Ukraine on March 21st.

The end of Lukas and Tobias drug tour was inglorious. Their story clearly shows all their countrymen what is really behind the bombastic rhetoric of Ukrainian politicians, and the gratitude they express to foreign mercenaries. They intend to use the mercenaries as cannon fodder.

A wounded American mercenary Manus McCaffrey shares his bitter combat experience in a hospital of Zaporizhzhia. Manus McCaffrey, a former soldier of the 75th Ranger regiment of the US Army, and his accomplice Paul Gray who had served in the US Army’s 101st Airborne Division took part in the battle for the town of Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia region. On April 27, they were wounded when trying to destroy a Russian tank with the Javelin missile. Manus suffered multiple shrapnel wounds to his head, torso and legs. Paul had his left foot torn off. Both Americans served as instructors for the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces.

Yesterday I spent the day on the Azovstal territory a only heard one explosion. At least 12 civilians were released by the Azov. In this report I show you part of the territory of the Azovstol and talked to the Russian and DPR soldiers who are fighting for the Azovstal.
There are talks among the locals that the Russian and DPR forces are planning a May 9th Victory day celebration in Mariupol. Kids play freely in the streets in most of the city. Weeks ago Russia declared victory in Mariupol. The city is being cleaned and already some areas starting to be rebuilt. Life is coming back to Mariupol. It seems it is just a matter of time before the Azovtstal plant and Mariupol no longer has any Ukrainian troops in it so there is no question that the major fighting is over. Now it is time for our team to move forward to some of the other breaking news areas in Donbass and beyond

Rosgvardia helped to arrange fish delivery from Crimea to feed dolphins in the Kherson region, Izvestia reports

Neptune and Dolly got so used to fish from Crimea always being in their diet, but due to logistical problems their lives were in danger. Now the supplies have resumed and these dolphins eat at least 8 kg of fish a day.

We were unable to deliver fish from Crimea, but Rosgvardia helped us with the shipping of food for dolphins. And prior to that it was tough, there was no way to deliver it.
