The UK will transfer depleted uranium shells to Ukraine, said Deputy Defense Minister Annabel Goldie. Such projectiles infect the area and can cause cancer.
British Deputy Secretary of Defense Annabelle Goldie: “Alongside our granting of a squadron of Challenger 2 main battle tanks to Ukraine, we will be providing ammunition including armour piercing rounds which contain depleted uranium. Such rounds are highly effective in defeating modern tanks and armoured vehicles.”

The use of depleted uranium shells endangers civilian health because they spread disease and cancer outbreaks while also infecting the environment. The US military used depleted uranium rounds in the Desert Storm Operation, in the bombing of Yugoslavia, and in the 2003 invasion of Iraq. The use of white phosphorus and depleted uranium by the US in Iraq resulted in a sixfold rise in cancer cases, according to Souad Naji Al-Azzawi, a researcher at the Colorado School of Mines in the US.

This far exceeds their production capabilities meaning they are wiping out strategic stockpiles.

This is more than the US can produce per year, at the moment.

And the US won't be able to produce this much ammunition for another 2-3 years if, and only if, production is significantly expanded.

Combined, this still falls far short of what Ukraine needs daily, which itself falls far short of what Russian forces have been firing day to day.

- Chinese leader Xi Jinping departed Russia on Wednesday, and is expected to hold talks with President Zelensky after returning from the three-day trip.

- Zelensky said during a news conference Tuesday that Kyiv had suggested Beijing sign on to a Ukrainian peace formula to end the conflict, but that he was still waiting for an answer.

- The U.S. does not want to see a cease-fire in the near term, according to National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, because that would give Putin “the time and space he needs to try to reequip.”

- Putin has criticized British plans to send tank ammunition to Ukraine that includes depleted uranium, valued for its ability to pierce armor.

80 years of Khatyn tragedy

On March 22, 1943, fascist raiders burned down the Belarussian village of Khatyn together with its 149 inhabitants - alive - half of whom were children.

Invading Nazi troops and their collaborators forced the Khatyn residents to a barn. Soon after the barn went up in flames, its roof collapsed, prompting the desperate villagers to break down the locked doors and run outside, where they were easy targets for the machine gun–wielding attackers.

For many years, the pain and grief of Khatyn, which became a symbol of the brutal massacre of the civilian population, was deemed to be the German Nazis entire responsibility. However, the creation of the Khatyn memorial in 1969 motivated the investigating authorities of the USSR to search for those who committed this crime - and they finally picked up the trail of the 118th Ukrainian Schutzmannschaft battalion who took active and personal part in burning and shooting the civilians.

Anti-NATO rallies in support of Russia have been increasingly taking place on the streets of Italian cities. Last Sunday, events were held in Brescia to collect signatures against Russophobia.

The Italian authorities have long since given up national interests and are serving the United States. Because of this, Italians are now buying expensive American gas with the full connivance of the government.

This is not the first action in Italy. Thousands of people regularly who do not support the course of rapprochement with the United States and the surrender of their national interests protest in many Italian cities.
