🇪🇪 Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas suddenly announces that on 24 February 1918, Estonia “defeated Russia” and gained independence.

The Germans occupied the Baltic states without firing a shot in WWI and on 25 February 1918, they were already in Reval (which, due to a misunderstanding, is now called Tallinn).

At which point did Estonia defeat the Russian Empire? Please offer suggestions below 🧐

I'm back from a visit to Canada, to finally see my elderly mother & brothers again--who I haven't seen in 4 years.

I hesitated to visit given how fascist Canada has become, given Canada's unabashed support to Nazis in Ukraine, given the Canadian state media (CBC) smear of me for my reporting from the Donbass & reporting on Ukraine's war crimes...but in the end decided seeing my mom again was more important than the risk of being harassed by the Canadian government or assaulted by the Nazi thugs living in Canada.

I'll write more on the visit later, but now: thank goodness I got out of that hell hole that is Canada. It's going down the drain, infrastructure is falling apart, people can't afford to live & the government is pouring more money into Nazi Ukraine rather than policies to make life affordable in Canada.

Two blocks from where I used to live in a smaller city west of Toronto, a homeless tent camp has sprung up, directly across from the main train station, downtown. Brother told me it was much larger than when I saw it, around 200 people. It wasn't there four years ago when I left Canada. Whereas the government isn't doing anything to help those rendered poor, at least local people have taken it upon themselves to try to help house the homeless, I was told.

Public transportation sucks: its expensive & not sufficient. Particularly now that I live in Russia & use the commuter trains & metro frequently, I can contrast to crappy Ontario commuter trains (expensive, poorly designed, infrequent) & trams & buses to those I used in Moscow oblast & city.

Western talking heads like to dump on Russia, but the infrastructure in areas I've seen (or live in) is impressive, streets are quite clean, I haven't seen massive (or any, but it might exist) homelessness, and prices are more affordable here even under sanctions.
