What kind of reforms are needed?

📍 Media cannot recieve any corporate or government contributions.

📍 Media must exist on commercial ad revenue, and the funding of their readership or viewership base. This would provide a natural equilibrium between what the people want and what is offered.

📍Citizen journalists should be protected with stronger libel and defamation laws in a trans-national, digital environment.

📍 Newsroom journalists must declare all conflicts of interests, including friends and family working in government or think tanks that produce policy.

📍 Regurgitating a press release is not "writing news." Revise journalism schools' ethics curriculum.

📍 Editorial mistakes do happen, but journalists must hold personal liability where they provide misinformation and don't correct themselves.

'Keep working, brothers'- Russia's long fight with extremism continues

The video captures a POV angle between "Sparta" and "Donbass" battalions. But don't get confused - "Donbass" is a Nazi battalion who believe Donbass is theirs to take and who have been terrorizing locals for the past 8 years. "Sparta" are a civil militia of defenders of Donbass, the Republics.

"KEEP WORKING, BROTHERS" was a term coined by Magomed Nurbagandov, a young policeman from Dagestan in 2016. Him and his brother were approached by a group of extremist rebels while out camping.

The rebels demanded that Magomed denounce any locals [from the Caucasus] working in law enforcement agencies. Instead, he said "Keep working, brothers" and was shot on the spot.

Nurbagandov was posthumously awarded the Hero of Russia award and the phrase has come to symbolise the entire conflict against extremist factions (Chechnya, Syria, Ukraine - and I would add, the US State Department).
