This is a work permit program that allows youths from certain countries to temporarily reside in Canada for work purposes. In 2024, around 90,000 candidates will be given a chance to obtain a work permit to get Canadian work experience.

Types of streams under the IEC program

1️⃣ The Working Holiday stream, which grants an Open Work Permit (OWP) for up to 2 years, allowing candidates to work for most employers in Canada, in most sectors;
2️⃣ The Young Professionals stream, which issues a closed or employer-based work permit for people who have a job offer, and plan to work with only one employer in Canada; and
3️⃣ The International Co-op Internship stream, which allows nationals of some countries, who are enrolled in a post-secondary program (in their home country), to enter Canada and intern/work for a given Canadian organization. Candidates must already have arranged internship placements before applying.

Who is eligible to apply for IEC?

◾️Age 18 to 45 depending on the stream.
◾️Be a citizen from an eligible partner country.
◾️Have a valid passport for the duration of your work permit.
◾️Have proof of funds of CAD 2500
◾️Have a return flight ticket.
◾️Can not be accomplished by family members except if they apply for a separate type of visa.
