To understand what happened over the next 7+ years, I had to clear my mind and re-train my brain. That’s hard work! I’m still learning.

A friend recommended a book to me: Psychopath Free by Jackson Mackenzie.

I had never considered him a psychopath. I thought it was just a word used in passing or under your breath with an eye roll 🙄.

Here’s a snippet of truth:

“When the psychopath is the one who’s discarded, you should prepare yourself for months, if not years, of stalking and harassment. ...they will put their rage into ruining your life.”

This gives them the illusion of control.

One of the hardest parts in this process has been making the daily conscious choice to not live my life in fear of him, or anyone he is associated with.

Have you ever experienced a psychopath in your life? What did you learn? ✨

In the airport, on the first day we met, is where I can remember the very first (ignored) red flags 🚩:

🚩 We were on the same page on every topic we discussed (we talked for hours).

🚩 He was very calm, cool, collected, and said all the right things. 🥸

🚩 He suggested getting a hotel room in ATL (he conveniently missed his connecting flight!) I declined.

🚩 He noticed I didn’t have a phone cover, and pulled out his phone to order me one on Amazon. His card got declined.

🚩 He shared with me that he doesn’t drink alcohol. (No biggie, I thought. I actually commended him for that.) I had no idea how deep the addictions went. More on that later...

I can look back at these and giggle.

They seem so obvious and in my face now. They were obvious and in my face then, too. I created mental blocks and excuses for patterns of behavior. The mind sure is powerful. 🧠

I also have a unique personal situation which has allowed me to see things up close and personal. Part of this comes from me pushing the envelope and being confrontational. So far, it’s worked and I’ve learned more about the world than I ever dreamed possible. I truly believe it is my duty to share this with you 🙃

This isn’t about me, it’s about us. We fight for those who don’t have a voice and we fight to get it right. There is no time to be mentally lazy, for it will lead to stagnation. The world is changing fast and if we don’t stay ahead of the curve we lend ourselves to the possibility of being blindsided back into The Matrix.
