CASE #1 — The Missing Painting

Detective Aro stared at the empty wall. The thief was still unknown, but something about the night guard's story felt disingenuous — too smooth, too rehearsed.
She began extrapolating from the few clues left behind: a scratch on the frame, a faint smell of paint. It was an extraordinary case — nothing like it in twenty years on the force.
Her mentor had always told her to nurture her instincts and never ignore small details. She remembered his old advice: "The truth hides in the details no one bothers to check."
She questioned the guard again. His answers lacked sincerity. When she asked how he'd compensated for missing the security footage, he stumbled. She scrutinized his file — and there it was: a debt, fully depleted his savings, right before the painting vanished.

Case closed.

📁 CASE #2 — The Second Witness

Detective Aro decided to inspect the crime scene one more time before closing the file completely. Something still felt off.
She had ambivalence toward the guard's story — part of her believed him, part of her didn't. When she asked her partner to lift the old surveillance tapes from storage, he groaned but agreed. He had always liked working cold cases anyway.
As the investigation advances, a new witness stepped forward — a shop owner across the street. His statement started corroborating the guard's version, which was strange, since Aro had initially overlooked him completely during the first round of interviews.
But something didn't add up. If the shop owner was telling the truth, someone else had tried to misrepresent the timeline. There were exceptions to every alibi in this case — small gaps no one could explain.
Aro looked at the folder one last time. The evidence finally made sense.
