For now, Iran believes its control of Hormuz is the thing that will prevent such an outcome: that the ability to cause chaos in the global economy will serve as a deterrent in the future. Plus it wants to use the strait as a revenue stream.
Yet for America (and Gulf states) there is no acceptable deal in which Iran retains such control.
So for the American negotiators, Hormuz looks like a point of leverage that Iran should trade for security and economic benefits; for the Iranians, Hormuz itself is a security and economic benefit.

๐จ๐ต๐ฐ โ๏ธ - Pakistan is facing a serious Jet A-1 aviation fuel disruption. The Pakistan Airports Authority has issued NOTAM A0147/26 restricting fuel uplift for foreign carriers. Foreign airlines are asked to carry return fuel as precaution amid supply concernsโฆ
๐จ๐ต๐ฐ โ๏ธ - Pakistan International Airlines has cancelled all sector-based discounts, for students, senior citizens, journalists, retired military personnel, and Airports Security Force members as jet fuel prices soar past $195 a barrel, more than double pre-war levels.
The US-Israeli war on Iran, which began on February 28, has effectively choked the Strait of Hormuz, disrupting global energy and cargo flows and sending Pakistanโs domestic jet fuel price up by Rs40 to Rs517.17 per liter. PIA, which was only privatized in December after accumulating over $2.8 billion in losses, says it is โunder severe pressureโ and will restore discounts only once fuel prices normalize, raising fresh questions about the newly privatized carrierโs financial resilience as the conflict shows no signs of abating.
