In April 2021, BiRD held the first ever conference on the use of ivermectin as a prophylaxis and treatment for covid-19. Medical experts from around the globe came together to share real world data and research on repurposing this safe, generic medicine.

Dr. Tess Lawrie, founder of BiRD, was up next at the International Ivermectin for Covid Conference, giving arguably one of the most important talks to date. The meta-analysis she discusses was ranked an astounding 8th most read out of 19 million publications.

In the video, Dr. Lawrie talks through the findings of the meta-analysis along with the safety profile and cost-effectiveness of ivermectin. She goes on to answer questions from Dr Mobeen Syed and viewers of the livestream.

For those who cannot read Dutch- the mainstream media announces that the borders have seized 665 “illegal” medicine orders, mainly Ivermectin, containing over 55,000 tablets, capsules, and liquids. This mainly contained Ivermectin, a medicine that is mainly used for animals against mange and various worm infections. In addition, antibiotics and antimalarial drugs were also intercepted.

The control of illegal medicines is a permanent part of intensive controls by customs and the Health and Youth Care Inspectorate (IGJ). According to the Inspectorate, ordering medicines from rogue sellers on the internet entails great risks. “These drugs can contain dangerous contaminants or the wrong dosage of the active ingredient. A doctor also has no insight into the risks of use, for example in combination with other medicines or side effects," said Chief Inspector Roderick Runne.

The drugs intercepted by customs came mainly from India, Hong Kong and Singapore. They were all intended for private individuals. Importing medicines is only allowed with a permit. No illegal COVID-19 vaccines were found.
