Gear up for two exuberating events that will make you astonished - an exciting group discussion and a mind-boggling quiz.

GROUP DISCUSSION: Are you one of the people who believe Elon Musk to be the future Saviour of humanity, by fulfilling his dream of colonizing Mars? Or were you one of those who were skeptical when a selected group of billionaires held a race on who could go first into outer space for leisure? If you're either or in between those two, you are in for a treat.

APOSTROPHE, The Oratory Club, presents you placement training series with the opportunity to wake up an avid speaker within you. Participate in group discussion to show your keenness to learn about ASTRONOMY.

_Register here:_ https://forms.gle/zK4SZARHPMUwuZdx5

QUIZ: The Quiz event is for those who not only gaze through the stars and the moon but also for everyone who covets to learn more about them. Here we bring you a Quiz Event about extra-terrestrial life. What is life beyond the world? How do celestial bodies stand both fascinating as well as mystifying? Are we mere specks of dust in front of the whole universe?

Let's unwrap each and every question we have in our mind with respect to Space and the marvelous attempts in technologies by humans to root out at least quite a few mysteries!

Do join us on the 21st of January,2022 to take part in this event, which is waiting to flabbergast you with all the exciting stuff we have in store for you!

IMPORTANT: Regarding Qualifier exam on Jan 30 2022

Hope you are keeping well and preparing for the Qualifier exam scheduled for 30 Jan 2022, Sunday (2pm-6pm) - completing all the assignments and attending live sessions.

We have been monitoring the situation on the ground wrt govt regulations on the conduct of exams. GATE exams scheduled in the first and second weeks of February 2022 are as per schedule, with more than 10 lakhs appearing for it and they use the same exam partner as us - TCS iON.

In view of no restraining govt regulations for exam conduct and national level exams going ahead as per schedule, we are proceeding with the Qualifier exam as scheduled on Jan 30 2022 (2pm-6pm) - no change in that.

Your final eligibility to attend the exam will be announced on 26 Jan 2022.

Your exam centre information will be released on Jan 22 2022 and hall tickets on Jan 27 2022.

But based on requests from some students that travel may not be possible or what is the alternative if they are unable to attend exams owing to lockdown or any other circumstances, we have come up with the following:

Those who are absent for the qualifier exam on Jan 30 2022 - can reattempt the exam on March 13 2022 with NO additional fee. If you pass the qualifier you attempt on March 13 2022, you can register for courses from May 2022 term onwards.

Those who attend the exam on Jan 30 2022 and pass - can register and continue with 1/2/3/4 courses in Jan term itself. We will open the form for this when the results are announced. So continue to learn the contents of weeks 5, 6, etc and keep submitting the assignments.

Those who attend the exam on Jan 30 2022, but do not pass, can pay Rs 1500 and reattempt the exam on March 13 2022. We will open the form for this when the qualifier exam results are announced.

We sincerely urge you to attend the qualifier exam on Jan 30 2022 if possible as you can start the program right away registering to courses thereafter, if you pass.

Announcement for Qualifier Eligibility

We have updated the eligibility for qualifier (calculated till week-3) under the latest update in the student dashboard. Please check

REGARDING QUIZ 1

Hope you are keeping well and preparing for the Quiz 1 exam scheduled for 30 Jan 2022, Sunday (2pm-6pm) - completing all the assignments and attending live sessions.

We have been monitoring the situation on the ground wrt govt regulations on the conduct of exams. GATE exams scheduled in the first and second weeks of February 2022 are as per schedule, with more than 10 lakhs appearing for it and they use the same exam partner as us - TCS iON.

In view of no restraining govt regulations for exam conduct and national level exams going ahead as per schedule, we are proceeding with the Quiz 1 as scheduled on Jan 30 2022 (2pm-6pm) - no change in that.

Your centre information will be released on or before Jan 22 2022 and hall tickets on Jan 27 2022.

But based on requests from some students that travel may not be possible or what is the alternative if they are unable to attend exams owing to lockdown or any other circumstances, we have come up with the following:

The bonus marks based on the live sessions, discourse forum and practice assignments was originally capped at 10 points when the grading pattern was announced.

This is being increased to 15 points now - 5 points per activity and we will add all to determine the score out of 15 and add this to your final score, if you have passed the exam. And this will determine your course grade.

The grading pattern calculation that sums up to 95 taking the best quiz into account, this 15 marks in bonus should hopefully compensate in case you are unable to attend quiz1.

We sincerely urge you to attend the quiz in the centre if possible as it will be a good practice and also keep you on track in the course.

Greetings,

We see the excitement in the student community for the event in IIT Madras this weekend but, we are also grappling to face the cold hard truth of it not being accessible to everyone - we decided that things should change and we want to do our best to offer access to IIT Madras to everyone irrespective of their financial status.

If you would like to contribute to make everyone’s IIT Madras dream come true in an attempt at providing them adequate travel opportunities (Travel & Dwellings Allowances TA/DA), please do so at the earliest - we are short on time.

Why & How to Contribute SEC ?

Guidelines for Contribution

If you have any further queries regarding or would just like to initiate conversation to build trust - do reach out to us at sponsor@iitmbsc.org .

If you want to visit IIT Madras this weekend but are unable to finance it, send us a message at empower@iitmbsc.org and we will do our best. You will receive a copy of our policy when you initiate the conversation.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Any attempts at altering the contents and redistributing the above guidelines will be escalated to the highest-level of disciplinary action by the SEC
