Letter of Intent exchange ceremony between The School of Foreign Languages (SOFL) IGNOU and the Japan Foundation



The Tokyo Headquarters of the Japan Foundation has provided SOFL IGNOU with a full time visiting native Japanese language advisor for a period of one year for gratis.



With the approval of the Hon'ble VC, Mr Takashi Miura from Japan has joined SOFL today as visiting Japanese language advisor.



A delegation from the Japan Foundation comprising Mr. Koji Sato, Director General, Japan Foundation, New Delhi, Mr. Takashi Miura, Japanese Language Advisor, Japan Foundation, Tokyo and Ms. Sonu Gupta, Assistant Director from the Japan Foundation, New Delhi visited IGNOU campus today. Registrar Admin, Director ACD, Director ID, Director EMPC and all SOFL faculty & staff members attended the ceremony. Prof. Mohd. Saleem, Director, SOFL welcomed the guest from the JFND and gave his opening remarks about this important initiative.



Hon'ble VC, IGNOU -Prof Uma Kanjilal in her presidential address emphasised on the importance of this high level collaboration between IGNOU and the Japan Foundation and highlighted the need to work on skill courses, use of latest pedagogical tools using AI and gaming in the development of IGNOU courses with a clear focus on the enhancement of employability of IGNOU learners.



Possible areas for future cooperation such as Virtual Language Labs and Teachers Training Centres were also discussed in the meeting said Mr. Shivaji Bhaskar, Programme Coordinator (Japanese).
