You have decided that you would like to apply to do a course at one of the colleges in the city.
Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:
Explain what you would like to do
Explain what kind of work or studies you have been doing for the past few years
Ask for assistance in contacting an appropriate institution.

1. Informal introduction (Sorry I haven’t written for ages. I’ve been so busy over last few months.)
2. Purpose of letter with some original info (I’d like to study computing engineering at college in England next year. I hope you can give me some advice)
3. Answer the second question (This year I’m doing maths and biology at school. However, I really don’t know which university to apply, so could you send me some information about different colleges?)
4. Ask question about third part of task (Can you get to know about the required qualifications for ...?)
5. Conclusion (1-2 sentences).

It’s still up in the air = it hasn’t decided yet, but I think over this idea
Пример: I am thinking about changing my job and moving abroad. It’s still up in the air. I haven’t made up my mind yet. Я подумаю об смене работы и отъезде за рубеж. Это идея витает в воздухе. Но я еще окончательно не решил.

Критерии оценки эссе:
Каждый критерий имеет одинаковый вес и сочинение оценивается по всем 4 критериям. Поэтому даже грамматически правильное и без ошибок в правописании сочинение не получит высокий бал, если полностью не раскрывает тему или используется только простая лексика (low-level vocabulary).
Критерий 1. Task achievement (ясная позиция, все части должны быть отвечаны, основная идея и объяснение, примеры (main&supporting ideas).
Критерий 2 Coherence and cohesion (логически организованная подача информации, вводные слова (cohesive devices), в каждом параграфе четкая центральная идея).
Критерий 3 Lexical resource (использование менее распространённой лексики, точные формулировки, правописание слов).
Критерий 4. Grammatical range and accuracy (использование сложных грамматических структур, их разнообразие, большая часть предложений без грамматических ошибок).
Критерии оценки эссе:

Эта часть экзамена самая первая и длится 30 мин и еще 10 минут дается, чтобы перенести ответы в бланк из буклета и проверить правописание. NB! Аудио слушается только один раз.
