GRAMMAR TIME 🦠

When, If and Whether

• We use When to talk about an event or situation that we believe will happen.
I plan to go travelling when I finish my studies.
(I expect to finish)

• We use If to talk about a hypothetical possibility, especially in conditional sentences
Give me a call If there are any problems.
( Problems are only a possibility)

• We also use If in a certain polite requests.
I would be grateful If you could call me back.

• We use Whether where we are considering two possibilities.
I don't know Whether to have the beef or the Lamb.

Vocabulary Learning | IELTStip 🖇️

At the advanced levels of language learning, as it comes to vocabulary; idioms and collocations, it helps to see them used in a natural context so that you can understand how and when native speakers use them (that's why most advise to read magazines and listen to podcasts)
• Now compile your own list when you come across phrases in an IELTS passages.
• Remember, you'll only show a band 7 or 8 use of Vocabulary when you can use this type of language accurately, at the appropriate time, and with an awareness of style.
hard work

difficult work

The latter is not naturally used together.

P.S: just using 7+ Vocabulary doesn't necessarily mean your Vocabulary is 7.
