The English language is said to have one million words.

The biggest dictionaries that include almost half those words are Oxford Dictionary and Merriam-Webster Dictionary (unabridged versions)

An average educated English man is estimated to have a repertoire of 40,000 - 30,000 words (mostly passive)

Conclusion: You don't have to know every single word in English to reach an advanced level, more than 10,000 will do the trick. That is , if you don't want to take part in this show called "GENIUS JUNIOR"
