🧩Chains create a lot of waste, from disposable takeaway cups to the used grounds that are sent to rot in landfills.

☕️Starbucks (SBUX) has started to trial recyclable alternatives to the disposable cups.

The world drinks around 2 billion cups of coffee a day, producing 6 million tons of used grounds every year, according to a 2011 study

Bio-bean, however, is turning 7,000 tons of those grounds a year into biofuels.

برای تشخیص تفاوت beside و besides ابتدا باید با هر کدام از این دو واژه آشنا شویم و کاربرد هر یک را ببینیم.

کلمه beside در زبان انگلیسی یک حرف اضافه و به معنای «در کنار چیزی یا کسی» است. برای هم معنی این کلمه می‌توان عبارت next to را در نظر گرفت. با توجه به معنای این حرف اضافه معمولا از آن در بیان قیدهای مکان استفاده می‌شود.

از سوی دیگر واژه besides به معنای «علاوه بر این» است. هم معنی این واژه نیز عبارت in addition to می‌باشد. نقش besides در این معنا قید جمله یا sentence adverb است. قیدهای جمله قیودی هستند که پس از آن‌ها جمله‌ای به جمله گذشته افزوده می‌شود و آن را توضیح می‌دهد.

♦️The last hundred years have seen rapid and dramatic developments in many areas, including medicine, transport, manufacturing and communications. Over that period our lives have changed in ways that our parents and grandparents could only have dreamed of, but the question we should ask is whether the world is a better place to live in as a result.

There have clearly been many benefits. Advances in medical science have brought cures for once fatal diseases and this has significantly extended the lifespan we can expect. Information technology has allowed us to contact friends or colleagues worldwide at the click of a mouse. We can now gather information, manage our bank account or shop without having to step outside our home. In addition, labour-saving devices such as washing machines and microwave ovens have made everyday tasks much easier.

However, the fact that life has improved in so many ways doesn't mean that all the developments have been positive. For example, the emphasis on acquiring the latest technology has made people increasingly materialistic. We also tend to lead more isolated lives than our parents did, with less concern for other people. The resulting breakdown of traditional social ties can leave the elderly and other vulnerable people without the support they need. Among other serious problems we face are the drug culture, and the ever-present threat of terrorism.

To sum up, we have made great progress over the last hundred years but there are still many important issues to tackle. This may well be a better time to live than any previous age but hopefully the future will be better still.

تعریف ساختار معکوس

ساختارهای معکوس در موقعیت های مختلفی در گرامر انگلیسی مورد استفاده قرار می گیرند. ساختار معکوس  یعنی قرار دادن فعل قبل از فاعل.

جمله معمولی و نرمال

You are happy.

جمله سوالی:

Are you happy?

این ساده ‌ترین نوع ساختار معکوس می باشد.


ساختار معکوس با قیدها

هنگامی که ما از یک قید و یا یک عبارت قیدی منفی در ابتدای یک جمله استفاده می‌کنیم و معمولا ما این اصطلاح قیدی را در ابتدای یک جمله قرار می‌دهیم تا چیزی را که می گوییم حالت تاکیدی به خود بگیرد و این باعث می شود که جملات ما غیر معمول  (unusual)شگفت انگیز (surprising) و برجسته (striking) به نظر رسیده و کاملاً رسمی جلوه دهد. ولی اگر نویسنده تمایل به اظهار چنین تاثیری ندارد می توان ساختارهای منفی را در انتهای جمله و در جایگاه نرمال خود قرار داد.

 این جمله تاکید می‌کند که این چه کار بسیار زیبایی است.

ساختار معکوس در جملات شرطی

ما از ساختار معکوس می‌توانیم به جای if در جملات شرطی استفاده کنیم که دارای had، should و were می باشند.

جملات شرطی نوع یک در حالت طبیعی

If I had been there, this problem wouldn’t have happened.

جملات شرطی نوع یک معکوس شده

Had I been there, this problem wouldn’t have happened.

جملات شرطی نوع دو در حالت طبیعی

If we had arrived sooner, we could have prevented this tragedy!

جملات شرطی نوع دو معکوس شده

Had we arrived sooner, we could have prevented this tragedy!

ساختار معکوس با قیدهای مکان

اگر ساختارها و اصطلاحات قید مکان را در ابتدای جمله بیاوریم، می توانیم از حالت معکوس استفاده کنیم.

On the table was all the money we had lost.

Round the corner came the knights.

حالت طبیعی جمله:

All the money we had lost was on the table.

The knights came round the corner.

ساختار معکوس با عبارت  so + adjective + that:

 

So beautiful was the girl that nobody could talk of anything else.

 حالت طبیعی جمله:

The girl was so beautiful that nobody could talk of anything else.

So delicious was the food that we ate every last bite.

 حالت طبیعی جمله:

The food was so delicious that we ate every last bite.
