The notion that it’s faster is irrelevant. First, most payments already fast. Most of my online payments are instantaneous or nearly so. Next, even when payments are processed overnight, does a root & branch alternative banking system, affording private interests potentially to interfere with your right to transact, make sense?
I don’t think so.
