摘要：趁着ovh大火来推广自己的业务 If you’ve been following the news in the hosting world, you’ve likely heard about the devastating fire that took OVH’s SBG-2 data center offline permanently this week. In these scenarios we can’t help but re-evaluate our own backup and disaster recovery plans.

Last year we began offering automatic backups as an affordable add-on to all Slice instances, which take 3 backups of your Slice instance each week and stores 2 weeks worth of historical backups.

We also offer up to 5 free snapshots per location, per account - which allows you to manually backup/image your Slice instance before doing updates or to easily deploy more Slice instances using an existing pre-configured disk image.

Backups and snapshots are currently stored locally within the same datacenter as the Slice instance they’re taken from.

Starting in April we’re making a significant investment in new storage/hardware that will be colocated in a 3rd party (non-Frantech/BuyVM) facility. This hardware will be used to store an encrypted remote copy of all snapshots & backups taken.
