p.63: Catherine stays at Thrushcross Grange for five weeks until Christmas. She returns looking and acting different—she’s well-dressed and well-behaved. Hindley sees this as a chance to make Catherine look down on Heathcliff by treating him as a servant and even making her think of him as one: “Heathcliff, you may come forward…You may come and wish Miss Catherine welcome like all other servants” (Pp.64-65).

كاثرين مقتنعة أنه ليس فعلها هو الذي سيؤدي إلى شجار بينهما، بل طبيعتهما؛ أحدهما ضعيف والآخر ذو طبيعة سيئة: "ولكن هل... نفس الشيء" (ص. 119-120).

There follows a rationale of the reason(s) which make Heathcliff choose to reside in Wuthering Heights, a place where he has been degraded and destroyed: “What do you think…the other” (pp.120-121). 
Then Nelly tries to warn Catherine that Heathcliff might have hidden designs towards Hindley, Catherine, however, thinks that she comes between Heathcliff and Hindley and will keep her brother from any harm: “None for my friend… perpetual sunshine” (pp.121-122).

With Catherine’s attempts at convincing Edgar to accept Heathcliff which he did, so Heathcliff becomes a frequent visitor to the Grange.

Catherine describes Isabella as an idiot for her infatuation with Heathcliff because Heathcliff is not lovable: “Nelly, help me… into his trap” (p.125). 
Isabella accuses Catherine of being a bad friend and of Nelly leaguing with Catherine against her.

Isabella is embarrassed by Catherine who humiliates her in Heathcliff’s presence: “Catherine... beyond expression” (p.128).
