What does the writer mean by comic-epic-poem in prose?

Fielding wanted Joseph Andrews to be accepted as a comic epic in prose.
He believed that a comic epic in prose was quite a new genre and he was
keen to explore its possibilities.
The traditional definition of an epic is a long narrative poem, usually related
to heroic action of a person with extraordinary courage or bravery.
Fielding combines the ideas of the comic epic and the prose epic, and
represents a new genre which is comic epic in prose that contains both
comic romance and serious romance.
Comic epic poem in prose contain more extended and comprehensive
action, it is light and ridiculous, and it is introducing a variety of characters, as
we will see through the novel of Joseph Andrews.
