Spring
- by Henry Howard :
Theme: Description of Spring. The poet makes a comparison between the external world of nature which is joyful and happy celebrating the new season and inferior words of the poet which is sad and gloomy.
The poet cannot feel the joy of nature which is a presented in the poem as a foil.

Form and structure: (abab,abab,abab,aa)
English sonnet: 3 quatrains and a couplet.
The rhythms: Iambic pentameter


Figures of speech:

1. Alliteration:
A. Busy bee

Theme: feminine beauty is criticized in the poem as being transient, fragile, common and deceitful.
Women should never depend on beauty as their only virtue because it's change with the passage of time death, accidents.

- by Edmund Spencer:
Theme: Courtly love. rejected love is kind of love presented in the poem.
The poet is madly in love with a woman who is a completely indifferent towards him.
The relationship in the form of stage. The poet is the actor while his beloved is the audience who sits carelessly as he tries hard to get her attention and compassion.
The poet plays tragic and comics scenes to make her interested, while she seems completely disdainful towards his suffering that when he laughs "She mocks" when he cries "She laugh".
(The poet said that this is not a woman but a senseless stone)
