Skimming and Scanning
Skimming and scanning are techniques for getting different kinds of
information from a reading passage.
مقارنة بين الاستعراض والمسح السريع: هما تقنيتان للحصول على أنواع مختلفة من المعلومات من نص مقروء.
Skimming: We skim a text to get a general idea about the text.
الإستعراض: نقوم بالإستعراض للحصول على فكرة عامة عن النص.
Scanning: We scan a text to find specific information in a text.
المسح السريع: نقوم بالمسح السريع للعثور على معلومات محددة في النص.

Purpose: الهدف:

• to get a general idea about the text
• الحصول على فكرة عامة عن النص
• to find out what the text is about
• معرفة محتوى النص
• to identify the main ideas in the text
• التعرف على الأفكار الرئيسية في النص
: How to do it كيف تفعل ذلك:

Don't read every word. Let your eyes "skim" quickly over the text.
لا تقرأ كل كلمة. دع عينيك "تستعرض" بسرعة فوق النص.
Read the title and subheadings.
اقرأ العنوان والعناوين الفرعية.
Read the introduction or first paragraph.
اقرأ المقدمة أو الفقرة الأولى.
Read the first and last sentence of each paragraph.
اقرأ الجملة الأولى والأخيرة في كل فقرة.
Read the last paragraph.
اقرأ الفقرة الأخيرة.

• to find a specific fact

• Think about the likely form of the answer to the question. Will it be a number, a date, a person's name?
فكر في الشكل المحتمل للإجابة على السؤال. هل سيكون رقمًا، تاريخًا، اسم شخص؟
• Ask yourself the question repeatedly as you move your eyes quickly over the text.

• Move your eyes quickly over several lines at a time.
