At the start, she is in deep mourning for her dead brother and has decided not to marry or even go outside for seven years. However, she quickly falls in love with Cesario (Viola in disguise) and forgets these vows. Like Duke Orsino, another character in the play, Olivia seems to enjoy being sad and is quick to change who she loves.

4. Importance of the Character: Olivia is important in the story. Her decision to mourn her dead brother sets the stage for the events of the play. Her love for Cesario (Viola) creates a love triangle that is one of the main sources of conflict in the story. Countess Olivia:
- She is a beautiful and rich lady with no father, brother, or husband.
- She is very sad because her brother has died.
- She spends a lot of time alone, crying for her lost brother.
- When she meets Viola (disguised as Cesario), she falls in love.
- Just like Orsino, she quickly changes her love from Cesario to Sebastian (Viola's twin brother) at the end.

In summary, both Orsino and Olivia are emotional, love the idea of being in love, and quickly change their feeling.
