NEW: In an email from 2009, Epstein emailed someone (redacted) stating —— “Where are you? Are you ok, I love the TORTURE VIDEO.”

He’s responding to someone who said they are in China and will be in the US the 2nd week of May. That may help to narrow this down… but the email he was responding to should be unreacted.

Based on public speculation from news reports and Epstein-related discussions, a common guess for the redacted recipient is Jes Staley, due to matching travel patterns, device signatures, and known associations—but this remains unconfirmed and purely speculative.

Jes Staley, the former JP Morgan executive (and later Barclays CEO) was a close Epstein associate. This stems from his documented business travels and efforts to expand JP Morgan's presence in China around that period (including high-level meetings with Chinese officials, as noted in 2010 emails, though his activities may have started earlier), his known use of a BlackBerry device for emails (matching the signature in the reply), and his extensive correspondence with Epstein, which often involved coded or personal references. Staley has faced lawsuits and scrutiny over his Epstein ties, including allegations of facilitating Epstein's access to powerful figures.

Another potential name is Bill Gates, who was in Beijing for a tuberculosis conference in early April 2009 (though the timing doesn't perfectly align with "late April,"

Texts between Steve Bannon & Presumably Jeffrey Epstein Planned Documentary Shoot on Epstein’s Private Island Days Before Arrest

Newly released 2019 messages show Steve Bannon coordinating with Jeffrey Epstein to film a documentary, including at Epstein’s Little St. James island. They discussed logistics, timing (late morning), Cold Spring Harbor visits with James Watson, airport pickups, and island filming (“If we can arrange it can we film on the island?” → “Yes” → “Perfect”).

The two were coordinating a filming project/documentary (likely intended to rehabilitate or "humanize" Epstein's image, as described in related reporting).

The Plans were canceled shortly before Epstein’s July 6, 2019 arrest. Part of DOJ/Estate document releases highlighting Bannon’s pre-arrest collaboration on Epstein’s image-rehab project.
