The Lockheed U-2, nicknamed "Dragon Lady", is a single-engine, high altitude reconnaissance aircraft, (spy plane) operated by the United Stated Air Force.
It provides all-weather intelligence gathering, and is capable of serving as a surveillance aircraft.
The U-2 has also been used for satellite calibration and communications purposes.
Intelligence products can be transmitted in near real-time anywhere in the world via air-to-ground or air-to-satellite data links, rapidly providing critical information to combatant commanders.
