The Democratic governors of New Jersey and Delaware will lift mask requirements for schools beginning next month, reflecting a nationwide shift towards normalcy as coronavirus caseload numbers fall and political pressure for a return to normalcy rises.
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) will announce Monday that the stateβs school mask mandate will end as of March 7, a spokesperson said. Delaware Gov. John Carney (D) said that mask requirements in K-12 public and private schools, as well as childcare facilities, would expire at the end of March. And Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont, another Democrat, plans to discuss school mask policies at a news conference Monday.
