Florida Apartment Destruction: Reports of cost-cutting in construction process may have contributed to condo’s collapse
Fresh evidence suggests that during the building of the Surfside, Florida condo complex that collapsed in July killing 98, cost-cutting and shoddy workmanship may be to blame.
Bypassing waterproofing in some areas, lack of support beams and too little concrete are just some of the reasons engineers say would have limited the extent of the collapse.
An engineer last year conducting a safety inspection of the 40-year-old complex, reported seeing significant deterioration and also commented on the building’s lack of waterproofing materials in two separate sections, which was an alleged disaster waiting to happen.

WASHINGTON, Aug 25 (Reuters) - The Pentagon on Wednesday ordered all active-duty service members to be vaccinated with the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine days after the Food and Drug Administration granted it full approval.
In a memo seen by Reuters, the Pentagon ordered the military to start the process immediately but did not put a specific timeline on when it should be completed.
