Boy Scouts of America $850MN sex abuse settlement - one of largest in US history
About 60k victims of sexual abuse will be compensated after the bankrupt Boy Scouts of America (BSA) agreed a landmark settlement of $850MN - after months of legal wrangling with insurers.
One in particular caused OUTRAGE among victims for agreeing a liability of $650MN - far below the estimated liability - in exchange for no further obligations to pay out.
The BSA themselves have previously said between $2.4bn and $7.1bn might be available via insurance groups, but attorneys acting as fiduciary for all victims estimate the 82,000+ claims are valued at OVER $103bn.
