and yeah, working on a project called talix. imagine being able to generate actually high-quality courses exactly the way your brain wants them, while also owning your entire learning curriculum. talix is basically a free and unapologetically better version of https://roadmap.sh/ai/course with even more features. i came up with the idea and created the repo like 2 months ago. but got the time this past week, and started working on it.
so yeah, infinite course glitch dropping soon

Ive officially started working on my own chess engine (Oxide) using rust
I began with pawn and knight move generation, and for now im keeping things simple and readable instead of jumping straight into heavy optimizations. The knights are generated using straightforward (file, rank) offsets... check all 8 possible jumps, make sure the target square is on the board, and allow the move if its empty or holds an enemy piece.
Its not bitboards yet, but its easy to reason about and hard to get wrong, which is exactly what I want at this stage. Iโve also finished pawn move generation, so the engine can already produce a decent chunk of legal moves.
Next up are sliding pieces (bishops, rooks, queens), which is where things start getting more interesting. Once thats done, Iโll probably revisit move gen and optimize.
Finally feels good to actually be building this instead of just thinking about it. โ

knight move generation
Knight moves are interesting because they ignore blockers and jump directly to their target squares
That makes their move set fixed and predictable, unlike sliding pieces.

We got to interview @chapidevtalks for Devtopia.
We talked about his experience freelancing and his professional work here in Ethiopia and abroad. We also had a big discussion on how he deploys his projects.
It is a great episode, check it out.
