It is hard to say a model but, it has to be Einstein. Newton is so close but Einstein's ideas are transcendental, even now as the time goes, his hundred years old ideas are being verified one by one.

I cant say much on this, as long as it is a topic being debated by many, my take will just be merely opinions.
Theory of evolution, big bang and etc are the best models we have in describing the way we emerged and the universe emerged respectively. I have nothing against them as long as I dont see one verifiable flaw in them or they get refuted.
