Fear can be paralyzing. Or it can be liberating.
It’s our choice.
How do we frame it?
Too often, we don’t move forward with a dream or a passion because we’re afraid of what MAY happen.
“What if it fails?”
“What if it’s a major success, and now I’m going to be seen and heard?"
“What if people judge me?”
What if I’m criticized?”
We look to courage and confidence to work through these fears, to take the first step, and yes, these are critical — but it goes deeper than just courage and confidence.
Because when we’re afraid of what MAY happen, what we’re doing is telling ourselves that we won’t be able to handle the outcome we fear.
We’re judging the future version of ourselves; how do we know how we’re going to handle something?
Yes, we need courage and confidence to create the life we want to live — to go after our dreams and passions — but where do courage and confidence come from?
Courage and confidence are natural by-products of Self-Trust.
Self-trust is what says,
“Regardless of the outcome, I’ll be ok.”
My project fails?
“I’ll be ok.”
My project is a massive success, and I’m being seen and heard?
“I’ll be ok.”
My friends, family, and strangers on the internet are judging me poorly? They’re criticizing me?
“I’ll be ok.”
One of my clients stated it beautifully when they stepped into their own self-trust on their way to creating the life they want,
“Regardless of what happens, I know I’ll figure it out.”
Imagine your dreams and your passions. Feel the fear you feel when you think about taking the 1st step towards making those dreams and passions a reality.
Now imagine yourself embodying these two statements:
“Regardless of the outcome, I’ll be ok.”
“Regardless of what happens, I know I’ll figure it out.”
How does the idea of taking the 1st step feel now?
How does that fear feel?
When we know we’re going to be ok no matter what, we’re given the gift of reframing fear from paralyzing to liberating.
Fear is no longer something to hide from.
Fear transforms into a compass telling you where to go. We trust ourselves to commit and take action.
“Oh, that scares me? That means I have to go in that direction. I have to see what’s on the other side.”
For me, it’s always been the same thing on the other side:
Expansion. Opportunities and Possibilities. Magic.
When we trust ourselves enough to cross the threshold of fear, our world expands exponentially. We earn more and more freedom.
When we cross that threshold, we cultivate self-trust, courage, and confidence. We create a self-fulfilling cycle of action towards creating the life we want.
We’re no longer the same person who was on the other side of fear only seconds ago.
We’re the person who takes action towards what we want.
We can change our lives in as little as a second. When we trust ourselves fully, deeply, and implicitly we make this possible.
It’s our choice.
