' V2.0: Let’s make some Care Magic!
(written with input from colleagues <3)

Welcome to Monday! Who’s up for helping with a simple but worthy challenge?

My colleagues & I are reaching out in hopes of gathering at least $1000 in the next few hours, in order to scale back the urgency of situations for several individuals experiencing severe hardship. We would love to have you to participate, & it needn't take long <3

We’re part of a growing network of people who have been working creatively to help one another & our communities for years. We’ve learned a lot, & as able, make participation easy & fun - we are working to make lives better & giving neighbors a chance at a better future, & have high hopes for this to be increasingly nurtured & celebrated.

We are interested to tap into a shift we see - away from the unfortunate social norm of seeing other people experiencing ongoing hardship as hopeless tragedies with a lot of "I don't know what to do" moments - into discovery of ways to figure things out for the better. There's already huge momentum for people to fund the (care) gaps now… let’s connect & move in good ways!

If you have questions & ideas, are interested to network, or want to collaborate, please comment here or DM me @JohannaBotanica <3

Here’s a link to share funds: PayPal.me/xcriteria

We so deeply appreciate your contributions! They help keep our friends & community members alive & provide them more opportunities to gain quality of life & participate meaningfully in the world.

We won’t ask for more of your time, but if you would like to understand further, read on.

Here are some examples of current situations that we’re actively resourcing:

A disabled community member is stranded & sick in a hotel & needs urgent funds for medical supplies, food, & lodging costs, enough to give us time to make connections & find safe affordable housing.

Another of our community members is a full-time caregiver, & provider for a whole handful of disabled people, & is juggling too much in order to focus on all the entangled priorities, toward easing life-death situations for this group, on the daily. They need some funds to solve immediate problems, & more curious & kind people to be engaged in supporting their lives.

Another collaborator is on the streets without food again. He’s someone who has been a steady caregiver for other colleagues when he’s able. It shouldn’t be surprising that his mental health & will to live are greatly impacted by the repeated experience of this kind of hardship.

....

We’ve included the above details about current situations we are seeking funds & coordination for on an urgent basis, because that’s more familiar as far as fundraising via social networking goes.

However, we know how inundated many people are with emergency fundraisers; & for those in need, efforts at piecemeal supports that aren’t going to be enough to sustainably resolve their current hardships are increasingly exhausting & demoralizing.

My colleagues & I are compiling & innovating resources that will create & expand additional layers of social, physical & economic infrastructure that meet the needs of real people, so more of us will be able to continue to exist - & move forward.

Here in survivor-care coordination land, it's important that we receive monies & community support for our listening & knowledge translation work.

We are on a front line here, & we know well that situations can go distinctly different ways depending on how they're viewed & responded to. There is no substitute for lived experience & expertise!

From a colleague: β€œWe're fundraising for immediate financial emergencies across a host of situations. Please know that we could put as much as $200,000 to work this week to fund the (currently unpaid) coordination work we do. We're in dialogue with funders but progress is slow; we invite creative hearing out & help brainstorming this!”

Thanks for reading, & i look forward to meeting more of you!

'Many communities across the Intuitive Network experience life-threatening resource crises, power outages, and other utility interruptions.

Intuitive Network architecture helps us gather essential communications about these challenges and coordinate solutions ongoing.

This work is especially pressing since recent widespread severe storm damage in Pittsburgh on 29 April, where much of the key hardware for our worldwide infrastructure is located β€” and where services have not yet been restored.

Intuitive is equipped to coordinate effective response in ways most organizations aren't; because we center collaborative dialogue approaches that ensure our most vulnerable community members can be heard, respected, and fully included as solutions move forward.

Our Substack readership and Telegram collaborators have been powerful allies in growing Intuitive Network response capacity over this past decade of building together.

We're so glad you're here.'

'The immediate shortlist of emergency supplies we're seeking includes:

A generator and fuel to run it (more details in this post)

A $150 battery pack to power disability aids, communication devices, and related network solutions (this one looks like it will work, and we're open to suggestions if you know of a better option)

Rechargeable AAA batteries like these

Brown chemical-free bleach-free Seventh Generation paper towels like these (especially while we are still unable to to run laundry machines)

2 hot water bottles (like these ones)

2 bottles of safe specific castor oil (this brand or this brand only)

Funds to replace special medical foods that have spoiled without refrigeration (crucially needed for those not able to digest other foods)

Local coordination to get ice to prevent remaining special medical foods from spoiling (there seems to be an ice shortage across Pittsburgh) and ensure safe storage for replacement foods.

Note: Though in all cases, we prefer small businesses instead of Amazon β€” right now, these supplies are needed on an immediate emergency basis. The swiftest surest delivery of the specific needed items will be the best option.

Thank you so much for your help.

Be in touch with Megan Elizabeth before making purchases to find out the swiftest route of delivery, or if transferring funds for us to make purchases directly is best.

Contact information and more on how to support us is here at this link.

Thank you for your prayers, re-shares, and reaching out. πŸ’–
Let's do this thing.'

'A generator and fuel to run it are our best approach to preserving medically-essential food β€” to power a freezer and have the option of directly recharging a battery backup for other necessary devices.

Having a generator dedicated to keeping Intuitive Network architecture online is a high leverage step for all the communities depending on us, including collaborators in Pittsburgh.

Two unpowered freezers at one location are currently filled with medical foods.
Much inside them has already advanced through defrosting, some begun to spoil, and variously, safe edibility unknown.
Other locations are similarly affected.

We're grateful for your help to keep our core organizers and community members fed during this time β€” with the crucial specific medical foods their bodies require β€” so that our work together can most beautifully succeed.'

Hi. My name is Megan Elizabeth. πŸ’–

I'm writing our Intuitive Public Radio content mainly from my personal experience.

All these various aspects are also part of many other people's experiences, except for some specific details about how I've developed the Intuitive Network architecture we rely upon.

I rarely incorporate details that are not also my own personal experience; because my safety and function are at ongoing risk and currently paramount to the preservation of the Intuitive Network architecture that serves all of us.

When we're asking for your assistance for the Intuitive Network, I'm asking you for your help personally… for my own immediate well-being… as well as that of many others.

Can you help me out?

https://www.intuitivepublicradio.network/p/me-megan-elizabeth-and-all-of-us 🌺🌿
My life is on the line right now β€” acutely β€” in nearly all the ways I describe to you in our content streams.

While so many of my colleagues are in more severe situations than I'm in, my own situation is very severe.

Mine is often as invisible as theirs because I perform radio skills well β€” and cannot necessarily broach an especially challenging subject when something's happening to me.

Most of my compounded emergency circumstances happen off-camera, off-the-air.

Continuous dangers to my own life are part of my everyday experience β€” because we have not yet completed local community resourcing necessary to my and others' safety.

For the entire time I've been broadcasting Intuitive Public Radio β€” at least a decade now β€” this has been the case.

Can you help me out?

https://www.intuitivepublicradio.network/p/me-megan-elizabeth-and-all-of-us 🌺🌿
In these posts, I provide more detail about why the Intuitive Network architecture is needed to coordinate resourcing for people with sensitive and severe physical conditions in many locations worldwide.

Right now, we're experiencing a particularly intensive circumstance.

Here's today's introduction to my public media narrative: https://www.intuitivepublicradio.network/p/me-megan-elizabeth-and-all-of-us 🌻🌿

Here's our series of small posts detailing recent severe storm damage in Pittsburgh and our call for support for severely affected disabled community members who are without electric, crucial food, and emergency supply β€” in Pittsburgh and worldwide: https://www.intuitivepublicradio.network/t/service-interruptions ⚑✨

Here's our immediate shortlist of support requests that will make the biggest difference for us now: http://www.intuitivepublicradio.network/p/requested-supplies-and-assistance πŸ•ŠοΈπŸ€

If you can lend a hand or send words of encouragement β€” especially public comments and reshares β€” I'm very grateful.

We have made amazing strides in this past 10 years. We’re eager to keep building.

Thank you so, so much to our readers and community members who have responded to share the little they could.

Every bit makes a bigger difference than you know. βœ¨πŸŒΏπŸ™πŸŒΏβœ¨
' For poor families who call the church in need of immediate assistance. Regular calls include turn off notices for water bills and electric bills, or a need for food when a family has nothing to eat, or a need for medicine. This includes a woman with two teenage sons currently in a state of medical and financial crisis, who needs medicine she cannot afford, for which she is not covered by any insurance or program while her S.S.I. case is delayed in what has been a lengthy appeal process with no end in sight. I, the Rector, have a discretionary fund, but we are a small church and the money simply does not go far enough. This is about poor people who call churches because they fall through the cracks, or they are waiting for the process to be completed for Social Services or the Social Security Administration, but face turn-off notices, food shortage, and an immediate need for medicine. They need help NOW, not when the system finally (if ever) provides. When they call a church it is because they have already reached the end of their rope. '

' Families that depend on one small and unpredictable source of income…

…where all other family members are severely disabled and highly dependent upon service utilities for their ability to gradually recover…

…are often providing significant and generous support to a wider community through their day-to-day care for one another. '

https://www.intuitivepublicradio.network/p/preserve-vitality-family-by-family
'I’m asking your help to keep access to this specific food that keeps me alive…

…and to spread the word about how the Intuitive Network helps people in situations like these to stabilize resource access…

…so that we can bring our diverse joyful skills and service to the greater community.'

https://www.intuitivepublicradio.network/p/safe-food
For families like these, a power outage or storm blockage can mean that their one small source of income is cut off.

The person who could have been drawing that income has to put all their attention to caring for the most vulnerable family members β€” who cannot use electrically powered devices to get through the day on their own when electrical power is not available.

Not only have they lost access to electrical appliances β€” they've lost access to the money that allows them to obtain safe food, to ensure safe drinking water, to pay rent, and to solve common challenges on a day-to-day basis.

In this scenario, the family has a greatly reduced chance of survival β€” and their generous support for their community is lost, too.

There is one single kind of food β€” a medically crucial food β€” that is the base of my body's ability to digest nutrients.

It is a natural food, a food in direct and respectful relationship with the Earth, and it must be as free as possible from contaminants or mishandling common in the modern food industry.

It is not available at grocery stores.

If we run out, or if our stored food spoils (as much of mine now has), it's several hours of driving, a larger block of funds, and an amount of heavy lifting to replenish it.

It's available from one source in our region that we've built a good relationship with. Other sources are difficult to find.

I can sometimes have a little bit of other foods in addition to that food, but that specific food is the key necessity for me to have functional digestion.

I have some medically crucial food left, but each time we run out of ice, it's very difficult for us to find more ice; and a lot of that essential food has spoiled now.

More continues to defrost even with our best attempts at keeping ice on it, until we can get access to a generator that could power at least one of the freezers.

Megan Elizabeth here, devoting a few minutes to sharing our significant gratitude in an audio clip.

While challenges do continue intensively, the blessings are profound.

Thank you so much to all who have and continue to support us in what small ways you can.

Even those who have sent the smallest gifts have flowed such big energy to us.

There's so much strength and vitality in it.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and faith in us.

The connectivity of rising to these challenges together is a pleasure and a privilege.
