For anyone looking for the abridged version of Dr. Mark Bailey's fantastic "A Farewell to Virology," Eric Coppolino and I compiled some of the best quotes from the 67-page essay. While it was difficult to wittle down and I highly recommend reading the whole masterpiece, we got it to a 19-page Word document that can act as a highlight reel of goodies!

I need to post this diagram here, so it doesn't get lost in the mix. The 'functional genomics crowd' tells me that peroxynitrite (in this diagram) is the root of 'itis' dis-eases (inflammation) BUT the 'cell salts crowd' tells me that 'itis' dis-eases are caused by deficiencies in specific cell salts! Hmmm.
HAKALABS: URINE LOAD TESTING FOR HALIDES ... IODINE AND/OR FLUORIDE, BROMIDE, CHLORIDE (not available in California or New York)

Here, a video on potassium bromide, dispels the idea that bromides are bad for the thyroid, saying that bromides act in concert with iodine. A similar video on calcium fluoride questions dogma about fluoride (not to be confused with the industrial waste product used in municipal water!)

PAINTING A PICTURE OF ROOT CAUSES OF 'AGING' A new client came to me with a concern, primarily, about aging. He has read Sinclair's book, Lifespan, in which Sinclair describes aging as a disease ... which can be 'cured' with a blend of supplements like NAD and resveratrol ... all of which I've posted about previously. I've poured through the client's genetics of inflammation/detoxification and am focusing on SUOX and SULTs enzymes, among a few other flags (like sirtuins, heme/porphyrins, and synthesis of nitric oxide). You will see that the client has rare variants in SUOX and SULTs, two of several enzymes involved in detoxification via sulfation and sulfate conjugation. Sharol Tilgner (You Are the Healer) and Elliot Overton (EO Nutrition) cover the biochemistry of sulfation in depth, and I've posted their words here, previously, as well. What is interesting, to me, is the connection between variants in sulfation genes, like SUOX and SULTs, and how they might show up in lines and wrinkles and rashes and acne and discoloring of the face ... physical signs associated with 'aging.' These are, to me, signs of impaired liver and kidney detoxification ... slow sulfation, and a need for additional sulfates in the diet. In functional genomics, we would support these genes using supplements like NADPH Assist, shown here. Nowhere in functional genomics (as far as I have read) is there reference to sulfated minerals. Schuessler's mineral dilutions (cell/tissue salts) assign these facial wrinkles, lines, rashes to depletion of forms of minerals like calcium, sodium, potassium, phosphate, and magnesium. It appears that variants in genes that make the enzymes involved in sulfation (SOUX, SULTs) reduce available sulfates, leading to signs of aging. To reverse the signs of aging from genetic variants as well as dietary deficiencies, one could take cell salts, such as sodium sulphate, potassium sulphate, and calcium sulphate.
COFFEE SHOPS ... HOT & WIRED
SubCulture, a hipster coffee shop hangout in Palm Beach Gardens Florida opened to the public today as the gales and rain of Hurricane Ian subsided and the sun broke through.
I have waited a year, bicycling by their shuttered doors, anticipating this day. It isn’t so much their gourmet coffee or desserts I longed for. Not their cacophonous ambiance of spaceships and rockets (a dark David Bowie? Elton John?) or eclectic and racially diverse customers (two people, a young woman and a young man, dressed as cats — or maybe foxes with fat tails and fuzzy ears? — waited in line ahead of me.)
The owner held court along the wall, extending complimentary beverages and desserts to the patronage. Quite (quite!) generous.
I am an introvert, and even I have been longing for the opening of this coffee shop ... to be with these hot-blooded real people ... even if I felt uncomfortable.
Waiting for a matcha tea, I met a man named Juan, a retired professional with an analytical mind, originally from Colombia, in Florida by way of Canada.
We spoke about genetics and viruses ... and then, he said, ‘I read that there are people in New Zealand who say there are no viruses; did you see that?”
That! that is why coffee houses remain to this day, places where thinking (intelligent challenging questioning resourceful) people connect and exchange ideas.
I nodded, smiled, and wrote on a piece of paper: Dr Sam Bailey, Dr Mark Bailey ... Dr Cowan, Kaufman, ‘No Virus Challenge’
He said something cryptic about the state of the things. I look forward to exploring what he means by that.
