Glucuronidation, sulfation, glutathione, acetylation (all Phase II) and
CYP (Phase I)
Your body removes different toxins through different (or combined) detoxification pathways with garbled names like ‘glutathione.’
I recall ten years ago hearing about glutathione for the first time, could barely say the word. Now it seems everyone can say it well enough to purchase it ... so I have faith that everyone can also eventually say ‘glucuronidation’ ... the most garbled of them all :)
You have enzymes that are part of those pathways, converting compounds to escort toxins, like heavy metals, pesticides and medications, out of the body. The toxins that molds emit, mycotoxins, are removed via these pathways. Keep in mind that these enzymes get used up the more toxins you have coming down the same pathway. Think of the pathways like rivers, and enzymes like trash-carrying boats and the toxins, trash. Too much trash (toxins) to be transported by boats (enzymes) and you will have a backup of trash/toxins which is not great for healthy function of the body. Those enzymes, the boats, are proteins that are made from templates - genes. In this analogy, the boat (enzyme) is built from specs; the spec may have a smaller or bigger engine. Those differences are called variants. Variants in the genes can cause the enzyme to function better, worse, or make no difference at all. If you have a small engine (genetic variants), a lot of trash to be moved (lots of toxins, medications), and the boats have to travel the same river (the same detoxification pathway) ... you got a problem. That problem will manifest as symptoms and illness.
A salivary DNA test tells you where you may have variants in those enzymes.
A urinary organic acids and mycotoxin test indicates presence of toxins emitted by molds.

So we have chiropractors, Chinese Medicine practitioners, and so on, on one hand speaking about our true nature of being light and energy, but on the other talking about viruses and immune systems. I feel like it cheapens the true healing arts, which I'm concerned we will lose if the practitioners continue to ‘believe’ in nonsense.”

When I showed my dad the basis of my practice (functional genomic analysis and nutritional biochemistry) he said, "but you are up against everything!"
