"JUST LOSING WEIGHT DOESN'T MEAN YOU ARE DOING GOOD THINGS FOR YOUR HEALTH" Monday morning, and I am searching for scientific papers describing how an individual's genetics for fat (lipid) metabolism respond to intermittent fasting. I find myself thinking, as.I did ten years ago when I embarked on becoming a health practitioner, "why do we know so little about human biochemistry?" What I want to know, for example is, how do variants in the genes that metabolize choline and bile influence blood sugar levels (insulin resistance, diabetes) and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease? If a person has variants in PEMT, FADS, APOe, ABCB11 (and other lipid-associated genes), how do they respond to keto/paleo/vegan and fasting? "Random placebo controlled" studies don't tell us anything because each of us is uniquely designed in how our enzymes function in orchestration with nutrients/diet, toxins and pH.
