Dr. Merritt references methylation which is, for me, to witness to the painfully slow process in which the medical profession wakes up to the genomics of detoxification and inflammation (aka, 'the immune system") and terrain. Don't get me wrong! Dr. Merritt is a terrific force to explain the lie that is COVID. As for the functional genomics, there are naturopaths and functional nutritionists for whom this topic of holistic personalized health, and inflammation at the cellular level is old hat (and they know that you simply cannot give the same compounds to everyone because it can BACKFIRE)

INDICATIONS OF 'MAST CELL ACTIVATION' or "LYME" or "CELL DANGER RESPONSE" or "LONG HAUL COVID" or "HOLMES CYCLE" and similar names we give it ... 1) inflammation caused by the issues found in the two bottom layers, aka oxidative stress 2) suboptimal detoxification via the multiple detox pathways found in the third layer as well as CYP (phase I detox) and PON and autophagy 3) genetic contributions to nutritional deficiencies and mitochondrial function ... all before we get to the more commonly known methylation. The little round icons represent genes/enzymes, the results of an organic acids test as they relate to that particular topic (say, oxalates), and questionnaire of signs/symptoms related to that particular topic (say, sensitivity to chemicals)

SULFATES, NAC/CYSTEINE ... hydrogen sulfides and levels of antibodies. Antibodies are globulin proteins with hydrogen sulfide that heals damaged cells (see graphic above from David Crow on antibodies and hydrogen sulfide). I have a theory that people who have trouble making sulfates (because of variants in the SUOX, SULT, CTH, methionine genes/enzymes, for example) will have increased call for hydrogen sulfide to address cell damage. Bacteria in the gut also chip in to make hydrogen sulfide. (An unfortunate side effect is bloating that looks like SIBO). Clearing toxins, hormones, plant phenols all rely on sulfation (and another detox pathway called glucuronidation). If you have high antibody "titers" (levels) it may be an indication of your sulfation capacity and not the accepted interpretation of "immunity" to some pathogen.

IOW to address "long haul COVID", know your DNA and get those sulfation enzymes working!

Personally, I do not take glutathione because it comprises glutamate (as well as cysteine and glycine) and I have variants in enzymes that cause it to build up (glutamate is neuroexcitatory and neurotoxic in excess). I do not take NAC (cysteine) because as this article above 👆👆 explains, NAC needs enzymes like SUOX to convert it into sulfates. I am one of a small percentage of people with variants in SUOX. I use a combination of food and supplements to support sulfation (like Epsom Salts, chondroitin sulfate, ALA)
