NHK Fam - I have an unbelievable success story to share.

My daughter (5 years old) was born with congenital hypothyroidism. Doctors put her on Levothyroxone artificial hormones at 2 months old. We were told that she would have no developmental issues but she would be on the medication for the rest of her life.

No parent wants to hear from a doctor that their child will be on prescription medication for life. I wasn't willing to accept that.

Through the extensive research I did on thyroid and iodine (thanks to MK for sending me down that path) I began treating her at the age of 18 months with Lugols Iodine.

I wouldn't give it to her every day because she did become hyper as I believe it would cause her thyroid to be overactive since she was on synthetic hormones. But I would treat her with Lugols a couple time a week for the last 3 years.

After her last two blood tests showed that her TSH levels were well above normal, we asked the doctor to perform another ultrasound to evaluate the size of her thyroid.

The ultrasound came back normal! The doctor said there is no reason to keep her on Levothyroxone any longer.

Through the grace of God we have achieved a miracle. According to Grok, only 5-10% of Congenital Hypo cases are cured.

Thanks be to God, we are truly blessed and extra Thankful this year.
